Tiki Bonita Beginnings
Owner of Tiki Bonita, Will Boddington, spent nearly 20 years living in Los Angeles, California, actively pursuing his acting and stuntman career while soaking up the prolific food, beverage and entertainment scene. Then insert COVID, all of his typical watering holes and favorite haunts are now closed, making Will a very dull boy. Amidst his homebound boredom, he found himself staring at a specific area in his backyard that once served as a fish pond, when a glorious vision popped into his head: Let’s build a tiki bar on that exact spot! Will began collecting repurposed items from the beach, salvaging whatever tangible items of varying materials he could find and with the help of a close buddy, pieced the surf dwelling items together to create Tiki Bonita.
Will’s work efforts did not go unnoticed and Tiki Bonita became an escape for his friends, as he recalls people coming over to drink piña coladas, swim and enjoy, living life to the fullest all in the comfort and convenience of his own backyard. “I could spread the love a little more,” thought Will, and he loaded up his beach brigade, built on a flatbed trailer, and moved his little slice of island life back to his hometown of Colorado Springs in 2023 to do just that.
Today, Will is sharing his one-of-a-kind tiki bar with Colorado, where guests can rent out this pivotal party player for a romantic, beachy gathering that's generously decorated with driftwood, sprawling palm fronds and seaside artifacts. Just like a real bar, Tiki Bonita features a double sided setup so guests can sit across from one another, pony up and enjoy handcrafted cocktails, just like that one time in Maui.
